textual analysis 2 (chloe)

fun with dick and jane. a comedy.
starts with a close up of him coming out of the door and looking at his watch, this automatically suggests his lifestyle is on a strict time schedule, there is also a 'happy' like tune playing in the background which reflects the genre of the film, as he is coming out into daylight the shot is quite bright and interesting.

the camera slightly pans as it follows the character across the grass where he jumps and kicks the ball, there is narration giving the auduance further info, the music carrys on whilst the character begins to talk to a neighbour with a close up on his face. then the camera shows an over the shoulder long two shot as it shows the convo between the main character and his neighbour, we know he is the main character because of the way the camera shows close ups and tracks him. the two shot lets the audiance in on the convo as if they was standing there at the present time, this is done in order to make them feel more involved, the camera then flicks between a two shot and a mid shot of dick the main charactor to show his emotions and feelings.

the camera and location then changes to a close up of the family including the dog, in the car, then shows dick with the dog through a midshot, the use of the dog portrays a 'family' like image. the camera pans and tilts downwards as it follows him whilst he is jumping into the swimming pool, narration is again present at this time, the camera movements make the audiance feel more envolved in the situation.

the camera flicks between mid two shots and mid shots as the naration goes into further detail to inform the audiance. the camera is a key aspect in making the audiance feel envolved especially because a lot of the opening sequence is dominated by convo, therefore the reaction/facial expessions is vital in letting the audiance in and giving them an understanding to the situation.
