this time its "notting hill" a very well known popular romantic comedy that again uses narration in the opening scene to set the story.
it starts off with the opening credits of the institutions used, with non diegetic sounds of crowds and a radio broadcast, leading into the multiple shots of "anna scott". at this time music has started playing over the shots however we can still hear the digetic sounds of crowds and fans for a short while, then the music takes over all the sound heard.
the shots used in this opening are mostly close ups so the audience can get a good look at the character and start to build an image of there life in their minds. the fact that she is gettin her photo taken a lot and that she is always smilling lets us know she has a high status and is famous.
editing is used when crossing between shots, for example some shots wash out into the next one. some shots of the film are also frozen to then make still shots, as if it was a photograph taken for a magazine.
credits are being played throughout just so the audience can have a quick glance at the cast, they don't take much focus off of the shots on screen.
towards the end of thoes shots the music fades out and another peice comes in, signaling a change in environment, this is also when the narration starts. more diegetic sounds of people at a market are played, giving an atomosphere.
starts with a mid shot that then goes into a long shot, showing the location.
the shots match the narration, for example when hugh grant speaks of the hairdressers, that is what we see on screen. the camera doesn't follow him through the streets, it follows what he is saying, setting the location, environment and the busy "london sunday market" atomsphere.
i took all this from the start up to 3:35 mins into the film.
