opening sequence (stuart)

ive looked at the opening sequence of the film transformers to help me get some ideas on how to open the film. Although transformers if a different genre to our opening sequence, it starts off with narration, which is something we plan on doing.

first two mins:

-opening credits displaying institutions involved in making of the film with non-diegetic sounds relating to aspects of the movie.

-short silence with blank screen, to be quickly and sharply followed by begining of narration.

-as narration continues a shot of object, zooming out to see what and where it is, setting scene and location. during narration orchestral music played to add atomosphere to the contents of the narration, a sense of adverture and danger is created.

-as shot continues more location is shown, following along with narration and soundtrack. digetic sounds of asteroids hitting object in space.

-panning of camera following the object as it spins through space, then seeing earth being brought into shot, at the same time as the narration mentions "earth.

-as narration pauses title appears with more diegetic sounds as the title "transforms" into itself.

-last peice or narration, followed by high angle shot of location. with subtitles and music to set more atomosphere and add to location.

-camera tilts upwards showing two aircraft with diegetic sound of helicopter propeller added in, with editing, starting off distorted gradually coming more clear.

a lot can happen in the first 2 mins!!

  1. it certainly can! consider the relationship between sound and image. try to identify key shots/moments fromyour analysis that may be used in your own work. what about the shots you had to include/think about in your prelim task?
